Preceptor Education Program, 3rd Edition

Goals for the Project

The Preceptor Education Program for Health Professionals and Students (PEP) is a long-standing and wide-reaching education program aimed at supporting preceptors across a wide range of health care disciplines. In 2021, the ITRC was approached to update the content and design of 9 pre-existing modules and to help develop a new module focused on the use of anti-oppressive pedagogies in health professional practice placements. This project was completed in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Centre for Teaching and Learning, and eCampus Ontario.

How Did We Achieve the Project Goals?

The ITRC developed a new design and style guide for the program. We then created a variety of media content for use in the modules, including graphics, animations, videos, and additional interactive elements via H5P. Finally, we adapted the previous modules to a new format via Articulate Rise, implementing the new media content we had created.

The Preceptor Education Program was created as an Open Educational Resource (OER) and is available for use directly through their website [Link: https://www.preceptor.ca/] or through eCampus Ontario.
